Her simple and practical advice was greatly appreciated by the audience.
Stick to writing what you like to read yourself. Analysis of these types of books by working out why they work is the key.
Creating suspense by not telling everything and leaving a hook at the end of the chapter to make the book build in drama. Allowing the slower pace points to still allude to the next main point, pushing the story further. Creating a pace, slowing at times and building in other parts so the whole book makes the tale more enjoyable for the reader.
