I was unable to attend but my best friend Marion Martineer, who is also co-ordinator of the Ten Penners adults writing for children sub-group of Gold Coast Writers, attended. She had glowing comments about the food, the inspiring authors and the key note speaker, Susanne Gervay.
Judging by the smiles in these photos the event was a great success celebrating 25 years of the Association’s life. I’ve been a member for virtually 20 of these years, seeing the club growing and thriving and becoming an important part of the lives of many writers.
There was another beautifully decorated cake displaying the 25th Anniversary that Susanne Gervey duly cut. Marion video’d Susanne’s talk and I eagerly await seeing it.
As a long term member I can say that Clubs like Gold Coast Writers rely on their Committee to perform virtual miracles. I have witnessed good and bad Committees but am glad to say that the spirit of learning the writing craft has brought this club to it’s current level of development. I hope it continues to grow and new members can join to refresh the old members enthusiasm.
